NOW (National Organization for Women) has hundreds of chapters and hundreds of thousands of members and activists in all 50 states and the District of Columbia. Since our founding in 1966, NOW’s purpose is to take action through intersectional grassroots activism to promote feminist ideals, lead societal change, eliminate discrimination, and achieve and protect the equal rights of all women and girls in all aspects of social, political, and economic life.
This specific Chapter works on issues pertinent to Monongalia County and West Virginia.
Meet your current Morgantown NOW Steering Committee Members:
President: represents the organization, facilitates chapter meetings, liaisons with WV NOW chapter
Amanda Ray – “I am a local attorney and longtime feminist who enjoys being part of NOW to work for change for the better at a community, state, and national level.”
Treasurer: responsible for all chapter funds, MNOW bank account, treasurer’s report
Lynda Goldberg – “I’m a life member of NOW since 1993, West Virginian by choice since 2017. I’m passionate about NOW because of consistent pro-choice support. I have an MBA, accounting, and MPH degrees, making me the perfect over-qualified volunteer.”
Vice-President: assists the president with representing the organization, takes meeting minutes
Peter Giacobbi – “I am happy to serve this wonderful group. For me, women’s concerns should also be men’s concerns and those of the entire community.”
Communications Officer: distributes chapter emails, manages chapter social media and website
Devon Brand – “I am a native West Virginian and a healthcare worker by trade. I’m happy to serve in order to get the word out about the good work we are doing to make an impact on a larger scale.”
